Shady Chicago Politics. Again.

So Stroger finally is giving up. He wants his son to take his place as president. He wants his best friend Beavers to take the commissioner's spot. That vacates two alderman seats in the city. Who will get them? Beavers wants his daughter to take his spot in the 7th ward. She can do it. She is his chief of staff. Who will get the 8th ward? A friend? A family member? 3 to 2 odds it will be one of those.

Why does Chicago politics have to be Chicago politics? Aren't the feds cracking down on politcal clout? Or are just the building inspectors getting the axe? Just more unqualified people getting jobs they don't deserve and soaking up more tax payer money.

Would this all have happened if Forrest Claypool won? Why? Claypool is by the book. If anyone could've stopped the spin cycle of political corruption it would've been him. Stroger's [in]convenient stroke won him A LOT of sympathy votes. It was also [in]convenient that several of the south side polling stations had "issues".

Maybe in DirtSwimming's next life, they'll be born into a more connected bloodline. Good luck Todd. Just don't raise our taxes.

If Mr. Claypool is so "by the book," why does his official County Web site state that he won re-election to the County Board? All he won in the March primary was the nomination to be the Democratic candidate for 12th District Commissioner in the November election. Does he have that much contempt for the voters in his district? There is a significant difference between winning the primary and winning the general election.

I was speaking to "bigger issues" when I posted my first statement. Mr. Claypool has presented himself as the anti-establishment candidate who will willing to disobey his Democratic masters for the sake of the voters and taxpayers. To conduct himself in such a way shows his blatant disregard for elections and the voters.

It has been 4 months since the primary and you are still griping about Forrest Claypool? My friend, the situation we are in right now, and what will happen to this county, Claypool is small potatoes. Give it up, his website was wrong. But it is over. I hope you realize, and I'm sure you do, that if Todd Stroger is elected in November, this corruption and nepotism will continue. I've lived here for my whole life, but have been directly effected by it as long as you've been here. I also don't want to see this county go republican just because we are doing an "anyone but Stroger" campaign. It failed twice with the US presidency and it will fail again. What will make it succeed is to not focus on an amateur blog's preference and opinion of candidates in a long forgotten primary. I order vanilla ice cream at Baskin Robbins and despise anyone who puts ketchup on their hot dog. Someone's opinion of Forrest Claypool was never meant to be open for debate, only the the disgust of the Stroger saga. This isn't Michigan, this is Chicago. You have to one-up your opponents, not criticize the neutral party. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way.
