Comfortably Dumb

Happy Anniversary. Happy Birthday.
While MTV changed the world forever, they have been forever changed by the world. What once started off as a glimpse of your favorite group, or the visuals that went along with their hit song, has turned into a sad stew of college kids who can't handle their alcohol and sex in clothing. A channel that once created the music experience has been the same one that will destroy it, if they had even a fraction of the viewers they used to receive. First they were too white. Then they were too black. They played too much music. Now they don't play any. Their last attempt at a musical performance resulted in poor direction that resulted in the cutting short of the first live performance in 25 years by Pink Floyd at Live 8. It should also be noted that it was their first time together in over 20 years.
What happened to Headbanger's Ball? What happened to Remote Control? Where did Liquid Television end up? What about the short lived URB, show that combined Japanese video art with French dance music? Well the answer usually starts with "7 strangers...". What do you get when you put 14 of them together with an open bar and giving their class a walk? It usually has Challenge or Inferno in the title. Compiled of the most unstable losers who are deathly afraid of a resume, and 9 times out of 10, heights.
A lot has changed in 25 years. No more music, but you still have Kurt Loder.
